Engine
B6ZE(RS) DOHC I4 1598cc Turbocharged
Racing History
Car was built in 2004 to enter Targa New Zealand 2004 by Shane Bennoch based in Auckland. Suspension was upgraded, a full roll-cage, race seats, 5 point safety harnesses, and a Halda rally meter were installed. The normally aspirated engine remained unmodified.
Car was sold to Phil Gray based in Hamilton in 2006. Phil turbocharged the original engine, fitted larger 1800cc front brakes with Hawke racing brake pads all round, modified the bonnet and replaced the nose cone with a more aggressive version. Phil entered the car in 14 competition events, including autocross, sprints, and motorkanas.
The car was bought by me in 2012 and used in sprints, hillclimbs (with RATEC), and club racing. The engine has not been touched by me. When the differential broke I replaced the 1600cc viscous limited-slip differential with an 1800cc Torsen (Torque-Sensing) limited-slip differential. When the gearbox broke I replaced it with another 2nd hand factory 5 speed.
The engine has never been out of the car or modified in any way other than fitting the turbo, intercooler, and supporting hardware.

I purchased it last April (2022) with the intention to build a SS CUP car and ran a couple track days and 2 club days but was plaged with unreliability so replaced the 4age 20v silvertop with a 16v supercharged 4agze
