HVRA - Historic & Vintage Racing Association NZ

The Historic & Vintage Racing Association provides a home for owners of period race cars to enjoy them on track in a non-competitive and respectful environment. The primary focus of the organization is representing cars in their period specifications and liveries as per their heyday in the 60’s and 70’s.

Historic Racing Saloons (to 31st Dec 1977)

This is a Historic Class for saloon cars manufactured prior to 31st December 1977. This group is for cars that have proven race history either in New Zealand, or internationally via a recognised and appropriate organisation (ie FIA Group 2 Homologation, SCCA A/B/C Sedan Regulation, CAMS Group N etc). This group is also suitable for certain cars without period racing history that are built to correct period regulations or have some historic significance befitting this category. All cars must have a MSNZ Certificate of Description (COD) or a FIA Historic Technical Passport (HTP) All cars must comply with MSNZ Schedule T&C, Schedule CR3 or Schedule K regulations as appropriate, and are subject to audit at the discretion of the HVRA Board. The HVRA Board may invite certain vehicles that sit outside these guidelines and date range that are of special interest and fit the performance criteria and character of this category.

Vintage Racing Saloons (to 31st Dec 1965)

This is a Historic Class for saloon cars manufactured prior to 31st December 1965. If a car is not listed here, it does not mean it is excluded but it needs to be approved by the HVRA Board. All cars must comply with MSNZ Schedule T&C, Schedule CR3 or Schedule K regulations as appropriate, and are subject to audit at the discretion of the HVRA Board. The HVRA Board may invite certain vehicles that sit outside these guidelines and date range that are of special interest and fit the performance criteria and character of this category.

Classic Racing Saloons (1st Jan 1966 to 31st Dec 1977)

This is a Historic Class for saloon cars manufactured between 1st January 1966 and 31st December 1977. If a car is not listed here, it does not mean it is excluded but it needs to be approved by the HVRA Board. All cars must comply with MSNZ Schedule T&C, Schedule CR3 or Schedule K regulations as appropriate, and are subject to audit at the discretion of the HVRA Board. The HVRA Board may invite certain vehicles that sit outside these guidelines and date range that are of special interest and fit the performance criteria and character of this category.

Production Sports and GT’s (to 31st Dec 1977)

This specifically excludes kit cars and includes two-seat production cars such as the Porsche 911, Alfa Montreal, E-Type Jaguar, De Tomaso Pantera and Chevrolet Corvette etc.
