Pre65 Racing South Island

The Pre-65’s are a longstanding motorsport category in which all vehicles must have been produced prior to 31st December 1965.

There is no ‘standard’ type of car racing with them, the variety is vast – Falcons, Mustangs, Vauxhalls, Holden’s, Anglia’s, from V8 to 4 Cylinder.

The club was formed by Rex Dunn a Timaru based driver who wanted to race an affordable car that was a lot of fun. The first Pre 65 race was held at Levels Raceway, Timaru during Labour Weekend in 1979 with the official series starting in February 1980.
